During the survey period, from August 18 to November 16, 2025, and from January 19 to June 7, 2026, the news was marked by events likely to have an impact on television and radio viewing and listening habits:

 

On August 18, in Mayotte, Minister of National Education Elisabeth Borne met with elected officials and labor unions.

On the international front, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, at the White House.

On August 19, Elisabeth Borne visited Réunion as Minister of National Education to mark the start of the school year.

On August 21, the Réunion Region Region Geographic division. Mainland France is organised into 13 administrative regions (INSEE regions - there were previously 22 regions). On September 2, the United States claimed to have bombed a ship in the Caribbean as part of the fight against drug trafficking.

On September 7, at the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV canonizes the first saint to embody the 21st century.

On September 8, Prime Minister François Bayrou failed to win a vote of confidence in the National Assembly, leading to the fall of his government.

On September 9, François Bayrou submitted his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron. Sébastien Lecornu, who served as Minister for Overseas Territories from July 2020 to May 2022, was appointed Prime Minister.

On September 10, a social protest called “Bloquons tout” took place in mainland France and the overseas territories.

Internationally, Russian drones illegally fly over Poland before being shot down by NATO, leading to the temporary closure of airports.

On September 11, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is sentenced to 27 years in prison by the Brazilian Supreme Court for an attempted coup in 2022.

On September 12, the rating agency Fitch downgraded France’s credit rating from “AA-” to “A+,” citing the country’s deteriorating public finances.

On September 16, actor Robert Redford died at the age of 89.

On September 18, unions called for a one-day strike to protest the “austerity” budget measures announced this summer by the government.

On September 22, France officially recognized the State of Palestine.

On September 23, actress Claudia Cardinale died at the age of 87.

On September 25, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced to five years in prison, to be served immediately, for criminal conspiracy in connection with the Libyan funding of his 2007 presidential campaign.

On September 29, Donald Trump presented Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a peace plan for Gaza, which the Israeli government accepted with conditions.

On October 6, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu submitted his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron, who accepted it. Sébastien Lecornu will be reappointed Prime Minister by Emmanuel Macron on October 10.

On October 7, Tropical Storm Jerry forms off the Atlantic coast and threatens the Antilles.

On October 10, Guadeloupe was placed under a red alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms due to the passage of Tropical Storm Jerry.

Internationally, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas goes into effect in the Gaza Strip.

On October 12, the names of all the ministers in Sébastien Lecornu’s new government were announced by the Élysée Palace. Naïma Moutchou succeeded Manuel Valls as Minister for Overseas Territories.

On October 13, Israeli authorities release 1,968 Palestinian prisoners, and Gaza hands over the last 20 surviving hostages as well as the bodies of four others.

On October 14, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced the suspension of the pension reform.

From October 16 to 19, the 33rd edition of the Grand Raid de La Réunion took place, featuring five races on the schedule: Diagonale des Fous, Trail des Bourbons, Mascareignes, Mètis Trail, and Zembrocal Trail.

On October 19, high-value jewelry was stolen during a burglary at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
