Definitions

Audience share Audience share The audience share, or market share of an event (programme, advertising slot, channel, station, etc.) is the ratio of the average audience for that event and the average audience for the media over the same time slot. This gives an indicator of the relative performance of a channel or station relative to their competitors. Find out more (%): the share of total television viewing time accounted for by a channel channel A subset of the brand URLs that overlap with a single theme (e.g., news, e-mail, etc.); the channel audience contributes to the overall audience of the brand, which itself contributes to the overall audience of the Parent. Find out more (pages 1 and 5) or the total viewing time of specialty channels (pages 2–4). Results are reported as an average average The average is one of the most important statistical indicators for a set of numbers. By default, it is the arithmetic mean, calculated by adding the values in the set and then dividing that sum by the number of values. Find out more from Monday through Sunday, covering the entire day (3:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.).

4-week reach reach Reach is the term used to describe the reach achieved by a medium, publication, advertisement or campaign. It corresponds to the number of users reached and is therefore quantitative data. Reach plays a key role in measuring return on investment. It is used to determine whether or not the communication is effective. Whether for a website or a social network, reach corresponds to the proportion of the Internet user population or the audience reached by the site or network over a set period. Find out more : the number of people aged 4 and older who watched the channel or channel group in question question An inquiry posed in the same way to all participants in the same survey, with the goal of obtaining answers of the same nature. We distinguish closed questions whose responses are chosen from the options provided (scales, yes / no, classification options, etc.), from open-ended questions for which no answer categories are offered. In the latter case, the spontaneous answer of the interviewee is gathered. Find out more for at least 10 consecutive seconds, on average, over 4 consecutive weeks.

« Established Pay-TV reception »: This universe universe All the statistical units from which a survey sample is drawn. When these units are people, the universe is termed a population. Find out more is built from the established special-interest channels consumption and the reported equipment of the panelists. It includes people living in households receiving a TV offer via an Internet service provider (Orange, Free, Bouygues, SFR) where at least 5 PayTV special-interest channels have been watched within one month and the reported Canalsat / Pack FAMILY FAMILY A family is composed of a couple (married or unmarried) and, as the case may be, their children; or a person with no spouse and his/her children (single parent family). Methodology

The Médiamat Médiamat Registered name, the Médiamat is the benchmark in television audience measurement in France. Carried out by Médiamétrie, it provides daily audience figures for programmes watched anywhere, on any screen, live, timeshifted, on replay or preview, by all French people aged 4 and over, i.e. 62.4 million individuals. The measurement is based on 2 representative panels : - A first panel of around 12,000 individuals in 5,500 households, comprising : • 5,000 households equipped with home TV sets, each connected to a fixed audimeter, the source of home TV audience measurement • 500 households without home TV sets - A second panel of around 5,000 individuals carrying a personal portable meter to measure TV audiences out of home (all screens) and on Internet screens at home. These audiences are then attributed to the individuals in the first panel by statistical fusion. The Médiamat allows Médiamétrie to monitor audience behaviour on a daily basis, while offering the possibility of both editorial and advertising analysis. Find out more   Semestriel is part of Médiamétrie’s Mediamat offering. Médiamat, the benchmark in television audience measurement audience measurement Quantitative study of the frequency of use of media. Find out more in France, provides daily audience audience The set of listeners, viewers, or TV viewers in which each individual is equally weighted, regardless of their listening/viewing duration or frequency of contact. Find out more figures for programmes watched anywhere, on any screen, live, timeshifted, on replay or preview preview A way to view a television programme via a catch-up platform before it is broadcast on live TV. Find out more , by all French people aged 4 and over, i.e. 63.1 million individuals

The measurement is based on 2 representative representative A sample is said to be representative when it has been generated via a representative draw, meaning that each individual in the population had a non-zero probability of being selected. Representativeness relates to the sample and not to a unit of the population. It is not synonymous with a proportional sample or a "reduced model" of the population studied. In survey theory, it has been demonstrated that an optimal sampling strategy consists of organising the sample according to the variables that are most correlated to the subject of the study. Find out more panels :

-A first panel panel A sample from which information is collected over time. It can be questioned several times at regular intervals. This method is pertinent for studying changes in behaviour. The sample can be questioned continuously: - either: each individual in the panel is asked to fill in a daily questionnaire relating to the subject of the study. This is the case for the Radio panel. - or the information is recorded and returned regularly. This is the case for the Médiamat panel. This method is pertinent for understanding behavioural patterns and their changes if the panel lasts long enough. Find out more of around 12.000 individuals in 5.500 households, comprising :
