Internet
Residents of Greater Dakar were also asked about their personal smartphone ownership. More than 9 out of 10 people (97.4%) own a smartphone.
Regarding Internet use, 93.9% of respondents accessed the Internet every day or almost every day via a smartphone.
Social media usage remains steady: 93.5% of individuals are registered on at least one social media platform; TikTok has overtaken Facebook with 90.9% of users (compared to 62.91%), followed by Instagram and X.

The surveys were conducted face-to-face in three waves—spanning 48 days—among 1,409 people aged 15 and older who were representative representative A sample is said to be representative when it has been generated via a representative draw, meaning that each individual in the population had a non-zero probability of being selected.
