Cookie

A small file stored by a server in the user’s device (computer, telephone, etc.) and which is associated with a web domain. This file is automatically sent during any subsequent contacts with the same domain. Cookies have multiple uses: they can be used to store: a customer ID from a merchant website; the current contents of a shopping basket; the display language for the webpage; an ID to track the browsing habit of a web user for statistical purposes or advertising, etc. Users may refuse to have cookies installed on their hard drives or delete them after consulting the site.
