Standard deviation

In surveys, the standard deviation of a statistical result (such as an average) is an indicator of the accuracy of this result; it depends greatly on the size of the sample. In scientific terminology, it is an indicator of the measure of dispersion for a statistical distribution, defined as the square root of the variance.
