Smoothing

In the context of automatic measurement by means of audio watermarking, it is possible that the audience meter does not recognise the channel or station tag for brief moments of time (such as during silences). A correction called "smoothing" is then applied, which involves compensating for these measurement gaps. Smoothing can only be applied when the watermarks that precede and come after the moments of non-recognition are identical and when the duration of non-recognition is short.
