Head of Household

The reference person in a household is defined by INSEE according to rules based on the predominance given to couples, employment, and age: The reference person in a household is:
- the oldest working person with a spouse;
- in the absence of a working person with a spouse, the oldest person with a spouse;
- in the absence of a person with a spouse, the oldest working person;
- in the absence of a working person, the oldest person.
