Fingerprinting
A technology used to identify audio-visual content. It involves taking a "sample" of content that has been viewed or listened to on any platform whatsoever and then comparing it against a reference database containing all the programme extracts for a channel or a catalogue of programmes. If this “sample” turns out to belong to that database, then the content from which it was sourced can be identified.
