Founded in 1946, the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée (National Filmmaking Centre) is a public institution that has been overseen by the Ministry of Culture since 1959. Its purpose is to collect, analyse, and ensure distribution of all information concerning the cinema and the audiovisual sector to public authorities, professional organisations and the general public.
