Watching outside the home at first: in public places, bars and restaurants, where more and more big screens sprang up throughout the competition. On average, these screens generated 15% (1) in additional audiences during the first five matches played by France (See our Press Release from 11 July), and these extra viewer numbers rose gradually to 25% on the day of the final. These figures mirrored the exceptional nature of the event itself. Additionally, the football was being enjoyed on TV at home among friends and family; and the number of people coming over kept on growing as the national squad progressed. Indeed, the France-Croatia final brought together a total of 20.9 million TV viewers (2) (excluding public places, bars, restaurants, etc..) of whom 15% were guests, compared to 6% for the competition as a whole.
